Rabbits

The first inspiration for the project's concept was David's Lynch short horror-comedy sitcom, „Rabbits”. All series consisted of disjointed conversations between humanoid characters with rabbit heads, dialog which was interrupted by laugh track. The sitcom was somehow a parody to common TV shows, translated in David Lynch's surreal aesthetics. The „rabbit heads” impersonation of the characters have direct inspiration from this sitcom. In our project, the rabbits were created (modeled) differently according to their role. In addition to this, surrealist aesthetics that inspired the project have a root in the early Twin Peaks 90's TV serial drama of David Lynch.

The rough game-play concept was to create the „illusion” of interaction with a single button press. The player presses a button and then a „random number generator” in the game script chooses between multiple actions (and their respective camera angles). The element of surprise that results from this randomness can create the impression that a “story line” is created by the random happening of this events. This simple mechanic may create the feeling that the player “edits” this sitcom with two characters. As a whole, the plot of these actions can describe frustration, as the rabbit "man" is not able to communicate with the rabbit "woman", therefore everything twists in a psychotic loop of violent actions.
